Well a few days ago hauling my trailer my truck started bucking when I shifted gears (manual trans) and accelerated. Firth thing I did was reload my tune and the problem went away. I drove over 200 miles since then with no problem at all. Then today again hooked to the trailer under acceleration the truck would just totally die and belch out a bunch of smoke. Turn the key and the truck would start great and idle fine. If I baby it it will get to speed with no problem.
Anyone have any idea what could cause this or where to start looking?
Ok I will try that. What is the easiest way to unhook that pull the intake tubes. I know I struggle to reach it when I did the oil cooler over a year ago
Yes it set the dtc. If it was the icp issue would have gone away.
In an 04 ebp is inferred. However if the sensor is shorting it is possible but not probable, easy to test however just unplug it. Once again you will srt a dtc.
Do you have a way to check ficm voltage.

Yes I have checked my ficm voltage with a scan gauge and it is ok. 47 to 47.5 90 % of the time. It does not drop below 46.
When driving, it just dies very fast puts out a puff of smoke. If I press the clutch fast enough it will stay running. If not I just turn the key and it starts right up. When it dies it makes a puffing noise.
I put it back to stock and it still has the problem.
Until it was up to operating temp it ran fine. Then once hot the problem came back just like before. Once I started to put a load on it it would buck hard and shut the motor down. If I pressed the clutch fast enough the motor would start running. When it died it let out a huge puff of smoke, smelled like diesel strong.
My icp reading at idle was 560 once the truck was warmed up.
