dead battery ?
Hello, having a problem with my 2000 v-10 Ex. If i don't start it every two days the battery is dead. the battery is a year old optima that when i drive it daily will play radio for 6 hours and still start without any drag. The alternator was rebuilt heavy duty about a year ago. I have had this problem for a while but as i drove it daily didn't matter. With today's gas prices I bought a Thunderbird to drive to and from work, 100 miles a day. Now when i go to drive the Ex the battery is dead. Any ideas on where to start? The optima is a hell of a battery and to have it go dead in 2 days. that seems like a big drain.

I always attack these problems with a simple 12 volt test light with a spare 6 volt bulb. Pull each fuse one by one with the truck off, doors closed as you would leave it when the battery dies. run the test light between the slots of each fuse one at a time, and the one that lights up is drawing current. That should lead you towards whats killing it. Things like glove box lights, underhood lights, relays that are stuck, squirrel/rat chewed wires, even shorted cig lighters can cause a drain. If you see no light on the 12 volt bulb after checking them all, try the 6 volt, as it might be such a small drain you wont see it light up. Have a few extra bulbs as the 6 volts might pop on you.
