i have 2000 f350 7.3 4x4 drw .ok heres the problem everytime i put the truck in gear the service engine soon light comes on and the truck runs rough if i put it back in park or neutral and wait about a minute the light turns off and the truck runs great .i checked and erased the code every time it happens and the only code there is P1316 and from what i can find on the internet that is a idm code .thanks for all the help in advance.
It is an IDM code, before clearing the code, perform a KOEO self test or buzz test which will ping the IDM for the codes that it has stored, 1316 is just the PCM code saying the IDM has stored codes which need read. Your issue sounds like possibly a loose UVCH or an injector that is not firing cold. Look at the 7.3 forum for some great info... 1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
Yep.. a loose piece of junk 9 pin plastic connector/s under your valve cover/s has come loose.. somewhat easy fix... you can reuse the valve cover gaskets.. and 2 quarters, slightly modified and you are back running good again.. Just follow link Chris has in post #3.

You don't 'change' anything. Just make sure that they are plugged in really tight and then do the 50 cent mod to make sure that they do not back out again.

Keep in mind when checking ohms on your harness, it is sometimes hard to catch the loose connector exactly when it is loose.. You should just remove the covers and fix it like brother les says.... (better now than when you are on vacation in ten buck two)
