bought a hypertech programmer for my 04 SD... that thing was junk couldnt even tell any differance at all you guys talk alot about the 5 star tuning... does it really work or just a dream ?
I got my sct x3 from 5 star just tonight and was a good excuse to take the kids for a ride. I'm very happy, it just seems to work better, less timid, will see how it all shakes out as I drive it some more but Mike was certainly more than patient with me and was a great help.
Dream.......no it's a nightmare, hard to keep the foot off the Pedal since the truck woke up. Fuel consumption down from the BSEG enjoying the power of 1. Mike's customer service is great, cal him just talk to and ask any questions.
I just bought an '08 V10, will the X3 void Ford's drivetrain warrenty? Can you swap the program back to stock incase something happens before bringing it to the dealer? I really like the improvements the X3 will give, just wish there was more aftermarket for the V10 out there .
Yes you can return back to stock. All honesty I don't feel the need for any after market bolt on. Except for maybe a Scanguage II to monitor the trans temp when towing. The X3 will wake it up nicely.
It will NOT provide a 100+ hp boost like a lot of diesel programmers claim. Then again, it won't melt down your truck, either.
But I have yet to hear a SINGLE person regret it. As stated, just the change in transmission schedules is significant enough to make it worthwhile.
On the 2V, I can personally confirm very noticeable power increases. I would assume at least some on 2010 3V, but haven't tried it so I can't confirm it.
Buying a tune from Mike is one of the most pleasing purchases I've ever made. He is a genuinely good person selling a genuinely great product.
As far as the hardward, a flash programmer is a flash programmer. Just dumb hardware. THe SCT is at least as good as any other. What you're shopping for is the SOFTWARE and the experience, knowledge, and skills of the programmer. Mike is the man for V10's. Period.
In the 2 days I've had the 5 star tune on I've figured out a way to take the kids for a ride both days, and drove it to work which isn't my usual routine. Its like a different truck.
I have been running a DiabloSport Predator in my 2008 V-10 since it had 5,000 miles and now have 82,500 miles. I run it on the "middle" 91 octane setting but I can run 88 no problem. It has alot more power and mileage is about the same at 11-12 mostly due to my foot. I also added an Airaid intake and Magnaflow exhaust with resinator delete. This is the best truck I have ever owned and have had zero problems.

Techinically-yes, if you reflash the PCM-your powertrain warranty is void.
Now, if you have a warranty claim-depending on what damage happens and how that damage occured, you may or may not have issues with the factory engineers and authorizing a "warranty" repair.
Reflashing the PCM "back to stock" does NOT remove all of the evidence that the PCM was flashed, and if one looks in the right spots-it will show up. You CANNOT hide it-no matter what any vendor tells you.
So-you have to make the decision. Is it worth it to you to take the chance of a voided warranty, or wait until the warranty period expires?
