so i looked at a 50 f3 today body is horrible but drivetrain is in great shape
so what i want to do is take this thing and either hotrod it
find an 80s full frame chassie like a ranger and mount it on there
or go custom hauler with it with a f 350 chassie drw semi looking thing diesel engine manual trans and the motor and trans may come out of a medium duty truck and a small sleeper
what route guys? but i definatly dont want the original parts and im going to use them to help fund this project too
Wow, you say the body is horrible yet that sounds like the only thing you plan on using. I must say I like the diesel idea. Don't discount using the existing chassis yet.... Good luck and please post pictures when you have a chance.
F2-F3 mechanical parts and frame are not in hight demand. Only things I can see you getting the money is for the front suspension, steering box and pedals. Those were the same as on an F1.
and motor is a flathead
plus i like old vehicles but to fully restore i think will be a pain with finding parts
and also i want to be able to drive it which means to me go to a autoparts store and get a part if i break down
If your running boards are shot or missing, good luck finding some, your gonna have to fight to the death with me in a ebay bidding war if you want them!
LOL, No, but do you have some pics?

I am no expert but what i learned from these folks is that the running boards for a f3 are not the same as a f1.Meaning half tons and 3/4 tons running boards are different(I THINK)
I know that you have to modify the f1 running boards to fit your 53-56 bed and fenders.
