I went to clean out the EBP sensor and tube today and found it totally packed full of crud. On top of that the tube that goes to the manifold had a whole in it. Has anyone had to replace their's, where did you get it?
Also, how do you know if you need to replace the sensor, the pics below are my sensor. I followed guzzle's directions and only cleaned it 1/4" deep and then blew on it to get as much as I could out. Does it still look ok?
You can order a new sensor and tube from one of our sponsor... www.partsguyed.com (just click on My Account and Contact Us and send a message requesting what you want, along with the VIN #).. Great prices for OEM Ford parts..
I recently replaced my EBPS tube, my old one was cracked too. My fuel mileage seems to be a bit better already. I ordered the tube from my local stealership. Thanks to Guzzle for a great write up!
Im trying to find it from a parts store for less Im betting ford is 60$ +, and these look about right but the website says they dont fit any ideas? EGR Line | AutoZone.com
I am sure Ed has everything...I'm looking to get this buttoned up so I am looking for places around here that will have it in stock. Also I would rather not replace the sensor if I dont have to. Is there a way to tell if it is still good, can anyone tell by the picture?
I know there is supposed to be a diaphragm in there but I could't see anything but junk in mine, and the whole definitely extends more than 1/4", would you be able to see anything in a new sensor?
i had code 0470 which i think is the sensor...and an 0478...the xx78 was for the broken tube(i think)..both were soft and never set SES...if you get the tube, install the old sensor, and scan for codes. mine came back without even running the engine. also make sure to clean out the hole in the bracket that the tube and the sensor mount too...mine was almost all clogged
Chris, thanks this was very helpful. What kind of scanner do you need to do this? I definitely can't swing one of those right now, would one that Autozone has on hand work?
