If it is, you still have underlying problems with combustion somewhere.

agreed, this morning I got a p0500 code (vss) however if that was actually bad owuld it not also effect the speedo and the ABS? Is there a possibility that the FICM can also be bad even though I have a consistant 48.5 volts showing with Auto Enginuity?

I'm going at lunch today to get the batteries load tested, but don't really understand how a week battery could give me so much grief.

It could be the transmission shuddering. Checked the fluid?? Also, the VSS could be causing intermittent problems, but usually if it's bad the trans. won't shift and act all kinds of crazy.

VSS isn't setting a code anylonger. The speedo never quit working and the trans has shifted properly all along... until going home from work today. Of course the motor was loading up so bad it wouldn't accelerate so no surprise the trans wouldn't shift. By loading up I mean it was acting like a 2 stroke dirt bike with a fowled plug, LOTS of blue smoke and no power. I eased off the throttle and it cleared up, tranny shifted (harsh) and it began to move better. As the truck warmed up completely it seemed to run a bit better. Highway speed I can accelerate without problem. At cruise around 60 or so the shutter starts but if I let off a little or accelerate a little it goes away. Tranny fluid looks great and is at the proper level, oil is at the proper level as well is the coolant and the degas bottle hasn't burped. I just got the new software and firmware update today for the A.E., so I'll take it for a drive and record some things. Which would be the most important to monitor at this point?

I had the same symptoms a few months back, I checked the FICM and it was fine, so I took it to the dealer(I have an 06 so it was still under warranty). It turned out to be a bad injector.

On another note, do you have to have the Ford add-on software for AE to make it work? I was thinking about getting AE, but I saw on the website that PSDs need the add-on.

The add on is from AE. You have to purchase the Ford Enhancement. I think you can get it from RiffRaff Diesel for around 350.00 including the enhancement

Still sounds like an injector to me. I have the same problem until my EOT gets to 160*.

What was the end result and the problem? I’m experiencing the same thing, boost will drop off and I loose power, white smoke puffing out the exhaust. Any help would be appreciated if you figure it out.

How many mls do have on the turbo? Has it ever been cleaned? Did you check for DTCs?

It is likely that you have an injector issue.

You need to download ForScan Lite to a smartphone, buy the appropriate OBDII plug, and check for codes.

I have torquepro, I checked for codes and a MAP/Baro code came up. Injectors were changed 30k miles ago so hopefully that’s not the issue. Any way to check map sensor or if I get the code do I have to replace it?

Not sure of miles on the turbo VGT seems to be normal as far as I can tell.

ForScan is a better code reader than Torque Pro, but Torque Pro isn't bad.

Check to see what MAP, Baro, and EBP all read at KOEO and post.

I’ll download ForScan, thanks for that. Here’s my readings: MAP: 14.8 Baro: 14.5 EBP: 16.3

edit: all readings in PSI

That's virtually identical to what my 04 has always read KOEO. Sounds like a bad injector to me too. Any codes? EGR present or deleted?
