Hi everyone,
i new here and i just finish my first CarPc, everything goes 100% the only thing that isn't working is the OBDII port.
I have a 2001 Ford F250 4.2 180hp v6 intercooler Diesel, i find the OBDII port under the steering wheel and everthing is OK.
I'm using a ElmScan 5 Compact Scan Tool (ELM327) and OBDWiz, so i pluged the scanner into the OBDII port and the Power led just turn on, ok. Pluged into the PC and turned the Ignition ON, open the software click on connect, the software connect into the Scanner but the scanner just check all the protocols and don't connect into my car and gave the error saying to check the ignition and if is connect properly into the car.
I just don't know what i need to do to work.
The pins that are present into the car connector are: 4,5,7 and 16.
Any one can help me ?
Thank you everybody!
P.S: Sorry my english, i'm from Brazil.
I would check that the cigarette lighter fuse is good although it sounds like there is power to the port but check it anyway.
The engine you have is, I would think, the VM diesel which is not supplied to the US market. It is possible therefore, that the software you have is not compatible but I don`t know.
Lazy K,
i checked the ODB Power and is OK, the pin 4 and 16 are Ground and 12V and is ok. My engine is the MWM Turbo Diesel. Do you know what software can i use for it ?
AutoEnginuity® - OBD2 Scan Tool - Professional PC and PDA Diagnostics A lot of the diesel guys in the US use the one in this link but I don`t know if it would work with your truck. Maybe send them an email and ask.
And MWM engines used to be fitted to Fendt tractors and were great engines. Hopefully your one is as good.

Reason: addition
I know this is a bit late as a reply, but the problem could be in your computer. In order for the OBDII software to interrogate the vehicle, the USB port has to be assigned as a COM port. Depending on which version of software you are using, you would have to go into your hardware settings and assign a COM port number. I went through the same thing.
