OBD-II port doesn't work, no power???

Hey guys,

I just bought a 2002 F250 7.3L and for some reason I'm not getting any power through my OBD-II port under my driverside dash. I've tried plugging in a new programmer and a OBD-II code puller and neither power-on. Is there a fuse for the OBD-II port? Maybe there is a loose connection to the computer itself? I haven't dug into it yet but I figured this would be a great place to start. Thanks alot. Oh yeah.... My check engine light in on.

Thanks in advance!

Alan, (kind of on topic) I just posted in the Sport Trac forum. I am having same problem trying to connect my AE to a friend's 02 Sport Trac. I told him I could pull his codes but AE will not see the connection to the port. Plug into my truck and all is fine. Am I looking for a blown fuse? Does the OBD port power the AE? BTW, switched to OBD compliant in setup before trying to connect to Sport Trac.

There really isn't any powering the AE that I am aware of. The AE is powered in the laptop via software and it sees the connection or not from what I can tell. Are you using a power invertor?

No, running off battery. I know it's something in the Sport Trac because AE works fine on my truck, which is right next to the Sport Trac. I did find out in Sport Trac forum that it is fuse 17, and, like Alan said, it powers OBD II and cigar lighter. I'll check it in the morning. If fuse is ok, does anyone have any other suggestions?

No. Matter of fact, I had more trouble linking my PSD than I did my police cruiser to the AE. Just disconnect and try again, Easy check of cigar lighter is a cell phone charger plugged in. Don't make it harder than it is.

Again, disconnect the port or retry the setup. The setup was my problem with my truck. Multiple tries and got it.

Bingo. That did it. Fuse 17. And, if anyone was wondering, his EGR flow was too low. Told him to clean it out good then try it again.

Pull the DPFE sensor and see if it has moisture in it. I've replaced many for the same problem.

I had to replace that d@mn thing on my Ranger after only 55k (IIRC)... Same code -- EGR Underflow. Lemme think -- I think it was P0401. Am I right??

I think it was about $60 at O'Reillys.

From 7/24/00 4U7Z9J460AA Yes P0401 is the code for low flow.
