Header installation, EGR?

Header installation, EGR?
I am looking at installing long tube headers on my 97 F250 5.8 EFI for towing. Is this the way to go for torque?, and should I remove the EGR system or leave it intack. Is the OEM CAT and muffler sufficient or should I look at modifying that also? Thanks for all the info ahead of time.
