Speaker wire problem?

Ok I have a 84 f-150 that I just put in a after market radio and new door speakers. Well I have sound from my driver side door but not my pass. side door. Now I have a harness so everything is wired right. The drives side speaker goes on when the right neg and left pos are hooked up!? If I hook up the driver side neg and pos I dont get sound at all. why would it do this?

Thanks,
Alpine

I have looked it over about 10 times now trying to find out whats wrong. The fader is set to the middle. But that brings up a point I forgot to metion. When I change the fader all the way right or left I can always hear the drivers side speaker but it sounds the loudest when the fader is set in the middle. So I dunno

Speaker wire problem?

It sounds like you have your wires all mixed up. I had a car once that shared the negative lead with the front and the back for each side. It was a little confusing to say the least.

What I would try doing is wiring the head unit wiring bundle directly to the factory wiring.( Eliminate the "wiring harness" you have between the factory wires and the cd player wires.) It sounds like you have either the wrong harness or it is bad. You will already know which wires are for the Constant power and the Accesory power by looking at what they are currently connected to. For the speaker wires, turn your balance and fader all the way to the front right. try connecting the wires you believe to be the speaker leads until you get the right front playing. Then do the same for each of the other channels (using the balance/fader controls) until you have all of them playing.

Your aftermarket cd player should have the speakers wires labeled so you will know which color from your head unit corresponds to the factory wiring your trying ot figure out.
