I have a 96 F150 reg cab, I am replacing the rear speakers, the factory speakers, connectors or wires are not marked pos/neg, how can I tell which is pos and neg?
Take 2 short pieces of wire and connect it to the factory speaker terminals. Take a AA battery and connect one of the wires to the positive side of the battery and take the other wire and connect it to the negitive side of the battery. This will cause the speaker to pop, when it does this watch the speaker and note which way it moves. If the speaker moves in then switch the wires around on the battery. This should then cause the battery to move out which is the correct way it is supposed to go. When you have it moving out then note the wire connected to the positive side of the battery and where it is connected to the speaker. This becomes the positive side of the speaker. Now take the factory wiring and connect it to the speaker, The wire connected to the terminal that was the positive is now the positive wire. The wire/terminal left over is negative. Popping the speaker with a AA battery will not hurt the speaker.
