Front shocks- F250

Front shocks- F250
I went to change the original front shocks on my 2001 F250- I hit the bolts with some penetrating oil the day before and was able to crack them. The bottom nut for the shock has like a 1.5" "tail" on it (not sure what's its called)- I will take a pic. So when you start turning the nut- it gets caught- I'm guessing so it does not loosen. How do you get this nut off?
