When the 4-Pin trailer connector from the trailer is hooked up to the truck, is the back up alarm supposed to automatically shut off when you put the truck in reverse?
Researching the owners manual, and manual did not specify unless I missed it.
one of the complaints is that the backup alarm is BEEPING when you have a trailer connected. (My suburban turns them off for me)..
the 2011 is supposed to DISABLE the backup alarm automatically when you connect a trailer.
He is reporting that when you use the 4 pin connector, the alarm is still active.
| Maybe you are saying, "still working with the 4 pin here as well"

Good Afternoon Gents,
Thanks for the replies!! My trailer just has the 4-Pin connector, and when I have everything hooked up and the trailer plugged in, I still get the back up warning from the sensors when backing up......not a big issue, since I can easily turn it off when it comes up on the display......was just wondering if this was normal operation.
Thanks Again!!!!!!

How do you. Turn it off? I know my 05 and 08 each had a button on the dash to disable it but I haven't noticed how to do it on my 2011
When I have the boat hooked up (4 pin) I still get the back up sensor alarm and have to cancel via the steering wheel "ok" button. When I have my gooseneck hooked up (7 pin) the back up sensor alarm is set to off automatically.
I've actually found a way to 'fix' the reverse sensor beep. Keep in mind that this 'fix' permanently disables the beep but the rest of the sensor system works normally. The trick is to defeat the speaker for the beeper. If anybody has tried this, you may have noticed that Ford thought about that already- they made it where 'Check Park Aid' still comes up all the time if the speaker is unplugged.
My trick: I cut the wires at the speaker and hooked them to a small 12v LED. The LED doesn't light up, but it provides just enough resistance that the system thinks the speaker is good to go. As a result, there are no warnings in the display and the system works normally but quietly.
Of course, a real electrician could probably refine this 'fix', but all I had was an LED and a lack o patience. Feel free to spread the word. I'm not a member of any other forums and this seems to be a widespread problem. Hope it helps!
