Fuel leak question

Found a fuel leak today dripping off of a (pressure sending unit?) that was into the pressure regulator just behind the shrader valve.

Any way a wasn't home so I pulled it and installed a plug to stop the leak.

What is it and what does it do?

That is the fuel filter "restriction sensor" or fuel filter "vacuum switch". Its purpose is to tell you if the fuel filter is clogged up by turning on the "fuel filter" light in the cab. They are known to leak and many just put a plug in it like you did. If you want to replace the sensor Ford charges about $50 ++ and International charges about $25 ++.

Word of advise be careful when installing the plug do not over tighten it or it will crack the housing of the FPR, use some fuel rated Teflon tape and just snug it up.

Okay good deal, well it won't hurt to run around for a while without it then.

Thanks

Here is mine I plugged up a few years ago:

When you plug it, don't CRANK it down, use the fuel thread tape (as mentioned above)....it should be pink or yellow (read the label)...plug it and don't look back!
