i need help i recently bought a ford 97 f-250 diesel it now needs a water pump .I'm a newbie when it comes to fixing diesels .can anyone give some step by steps to make this not so much a mf. thanks
I have not changed the water pump on mine....yet (knock on wood) but I believe it is fairly straight forward. I am sure someone has a write up for you to follow.

Drop underneath and remove the small hoses from the plastic fan shroud on each side. Then using a long chisel rap tap the fan clutch nut on the right side twice. Then try and unscrew it. Pull fan and the shroud out at the same time. But you may want to put something in there to protect your radiator from the fan if you are pulling it by your lonesome. Make sure that the old gasket material is cleaned from the mating surface really well before the install and you may want to change the thermostate out to from a 195 to a 203 just make sure that the lenghts are the same.
