door seals
#17
I have a 51 F-1 on the road with a 239, 3 on the tree, a 50 in progress with a 224 and another 49 or 50 totally disassembled. I dont think softseal makes kits specifically for the truck, I just got strips to go around the doors where the stock rubber was too tight.
That may lead to another problem I have. Even though the doors close tight, Ive noticed they rattle and move slightly when going down the road. The hinges and pins are tight but not perfect. There is a slight movement of the door and the cab surely flexes too. I wonder if anyone has solved this problem with bear claw latches.

I have the same problem with my driver side door. The whole door bounces up and down and it makes this rubbing deep noise,so I looked at my hinges and they were tight but the top hinge (where the pin is)was loose.
The PO had replaced the stock pin with a bolt so there was play on it.
I just put a slightly bigger bolt on it tonight that fit tight(i didnt force it),no more play.
I will let you know if that fixed the problem.
If your pin holes are stretched I am sure you can either put a sleeve in or redrill the hole and put a bigger bolt like I did.
Do you know the part number for the door seals????
I went to their site and did a search and it came back with no results.
Thank you
Seth

When I used to build kit cars in the 80's I used the hollow version seals on all the cars, I could get it in rolls un precut. I wonder if it is still available in that form today? If I remember I think it came in 16 foot rolls. You just installed it and then trimmed off what you didn't need. Never had a problem with it not fitting. I can't remember the name of the supplier.

I looked for a part number but couldn't find the old receipt. I agree, the help at soft seal is not helpful. I found a small piece in the garage. It is foam rubber, has a 1/2" wide flat with a self adhesive orange peel off tape, the height is 1/2" and round, the hollow area is round about 3/16".
