I took my 1992 Ford F150 (V8-302 5.0L) to a shop near my house to get the diagnostic codes run on my truck. It came back with the two codes of 23 & 41.
My truck has been idling VERY high, when it's in neutral or when I push the clutch in to change gears. Then the other day, as I was driving around town -- it died on me about 4 times.
Can anyone tell me what the two codes mean and/or how to go about fixing them? I know that it might have to do with a FIPL or something?
Well... I paid about $100 a few weeks ago at a Firestone shop for them to do a diagnosis on my truck because I was having trouble with it. They fixed the primary problem that I brought it in for that day, but there was the idling issue that they didn't fix. I took it back today, and asked them to pull the codes again so that a friend of mine can work on it for me (as I can't afford to pay their labor again). The mechanic came back with a piece of paper and the following was written on it:
2 codes
-23 (TP/FIPL sensor out of range)
- 41 (EGO not switching)
I googled what a FIPL was, and I guess its a fuel injection pump lever?
