Lookin, lookin, lookin at detroits. $200+ more dollars for one. This will probably have to wait for a bit as I'm getting into a bunch of nickle and dime bs getting the truck together. Btw, it's amazing how much bigger a fuelie 460 looks next to an old carb'd one...

I dont know why you think that.

The block and heads are the exact same dimensions. The intake and throttle body is probably about the same size/height as a factory intake and 4bbl carb.

probably cause the bigger cast serpentine brackets. never seen them side by side pulled out, but i get what he's saying. my 85's engine bay looked open as could be, and the 94 looked a little cramped. both had bodylifts too.... :WINNING:

^^exactly^^

efi also still has all the hoses, wires, and boxes hanging from it. The 68 is purdy bare. Also, the throttle body is WAAAY taller than the carb/stock air filter on my 460, even with a 2" spacer the TB still has a couple inches of height.

The fuelie is eventually getting d0ve heads and propane when I get an adapter made for the throttlebody to fit on my spreadbore intake. Also need a new tank, as my current one is pretty rusty

Why not bolt on a regular 4bbl intake to your D0VE heads and D9 block? Why worry with adapters?

Sorry fellers, D9 block + d0ve heads + old cast iron intake (spreadbore) + efi throttle body = need adapter made. I.e, what you guys said...

Shouldn't be hard, just have to take some time to do it. My propane setup is off of an old amerigas f350, it was setup for the fuelie engine, which I could do very easily. But why not a good top end while I'm switching over?

if you are gonna go that far you may as well get some better pistons while its apart and aim for 13 to 1 compression to take full advantage of the propane.

was this setup off of a dual fuel engine? or was it straight propane? do you need to use the efi computer in this voodoo or no?

Straight 'pane & no ECM, so I can go duraspark II if I want. Exactly why I got it, I think it has two wires for the whole system. Another reason I'm holding off on it is bc I'm having trouble figuring out a realistic way to fill it. There's an amerigas station not far from here, but I'd never be able to drive it there and it'd be kinda dumb to have a truck come out here just to fill my pickup....hmm

wait wait wait...

Just buy a propane "carb" that will bolt on to a stock spreadbore intake and no you do not need the efi computer junk to make a propane engine run.

Simple is ALWAYS better.

For filling...
Buy 3-20lb forklift cylinders. Use 2 bolted down to the bed to feed the engine and keep one filled as a spare. Should work fine and be quick simple and easy to fill at any propane filling station.

BTW, propane is like 108 octane so dan is correct. You should bump that compression up to around 11:1 with iron heads to take advantage of it.

Kris, his system is simple. Altho I do think u didn't see his last post.

Also, most places will deliver for free with a min order of propane. Or just stop by when it is on the trailer on the way back from wheelin.

And with that, gas or alcohol still would get more power!
