summit racing exaust?

ima take it to a shop and see if they can do it cheaper but if not i might go with the summit racing 3" si/do catback exaust, a catco cat, and a magna flow y pipe transition to connect the factory y pipe then single out into the cat.... is it any good?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CTO-6576I/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-684455/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-10768/

so total items would be $274.70 including shipping.

Its really up to you, but if this was my truck I would ditch the cat and run straight pipes that exit before the rear tire with some summit mufflers or flowmasters etc. but thats just me.

Probably NEEDS the cat for emissions testing. Or hes a tree-hugger
But i have no experience with the cat-back systems from summit on these older trucks. It may need some modifications to work, but i am sure it would work just fine.

FYI... To use the magna flow Y pipe on your factory Ypipe, you will have to widen it. Where the factory O2 is holds the pipes together. What i did was take the magnaflow pipe and burnt a hole in it to where i could weld in an O2 bung and then connected it to my factory y... Finished it off with a single 3" pipe to the back.

Another FYI... the two exhaust pipes on the factory Ypipe will most likely be two different sizes when you cut your old cat off. Ford didnt put much thought into these exhausts from the factory.

EDIT: also a heads up... the factory Ypipe on these trucks is a known bottle neck. Replacing the exhaust from there back won't net you much gains without a set of shorty headers and a manderal bent ypipe. (or long tube headers and custom ypipe)

Well I guess that makes sense I suppose it is a little eaisier for my end due to the fact the I have an NYS inspection license and if I can't do I have friends that have one. Cause my crown vic has no cats x pipe and magnaflow magnapacks and let me tell you it is loud.

Always wanted a vic as. A family car to replace my escort when it goes. Has 354478miles on origional motor trans. But I drive 65 miles one way to work so the vic wouldn't work... I git 35mpg in the escort. But I will be getting like a 2006 jetta tdi instead. They r badass with an intake chip n 3" dp n exaust. Then there is injectors, turbo, ext....but to git bak on topic. After I fix my high idle and replace both gastanks this month ill be doing exaust...

Side note oldfordisbetter my vic got almost 30 mpg at a steady 65 to 70mph before I went from 2.73 open diff to 3.55 lsd now its like 24 or 25 in that range depending how heavy my foot is on any given day. Back to topic before you go and buy the exhaust parts you should call around to the little exhaust shops not monroe and that crap but for example (around here were I go is muffler shop plus).

O yea that was my plan. We have an exaust shop right in town I was gonna go to to see if can do a duel exaust 45'd at bumper with cat n all for cheaper then summit. If not then I would order from summit n do it myself...

Side note. I heard from alota vic guys that they git round 25 if babied... but after headers ( expensive) x or h pipe exaust tuner intake, it costs money. Like to convert to a pi if ya don't have one... it would b nice but I think the tdi would be better for me. I'm a union worker and wherever the job is I gotta go. So right now I'm 130 miles round trip.

I highly doubt that any exhaust shop will do duals for less than 3 if not 400. Its a custom job and takes more time having to bend and use more pipe than a single. But do look around by all means. I just dont think it'll happen

A 1-2 setup should not cost to much if I remember right when I had an '86 f150 my 1-2 cost a tad under $300.

IMO, go with the Summit setup, its mandrel bent tubes, which not only flow better than the crush-bent you will get at the local exhaust shop, but also has a much better sound.

I just finished installing my hedman long tubes custom 2.5 y pipe, made from some mandrel bent U tubes cut and welded into a magna flow Y. Magnaflow cat & Summit SI/SO 3". It was MUCH cheaper! Local shop wanted 400 just to make a Y pipe. Can only imagine what the would have charged for the whol exhaust!
