Calling all Firearm guys!

I looking for a nice .22 riffle that I can use at my dads farm around the horse and also use at the local range that offers a small bore riffle range.
I was looking at a Mossberg .22LB rife with scope combo and 10 bullet clip. I want to know what u guys think about Mossberg.

This what I was looking at. Shop wants $230 for it but I think I can get it down to $200.

For 'plinking', it's hard to beat the Ruger 10/22.
10 round detachable magazine.
Wood stock (aka/ furniture) or synthetic.

There are more aftermarket accessories available for the 10/22 than you can imagine.

I think you would be served just as well or better by a Ruger 10/22........same price range, and a world of aftermarket support and accessories, if you decide to use it for more plinking or target fun.

I have never been real impressed by Mossberg .22s

I don't think there's anything wrong with the Mossberg 702's for a plinking gun.

The Marlin model 60 is a great auto .22, except I don't like the tube magazine (personal preference).

As stated, it's hard to go wrong with a 10/22, practically limitless aftermarket accessories available.

another vote for checking out a 10/22. really fun gun with so much aftermarket accessories as stated above.
I have an old mossberg 22, full wood stock, it's got to be from the 70's or earlier. Won the state high school shooting sports competition with it back in high school! haven't tried out a newer mossberg small-bore though.

I have a stainless clone of the 10-22.
Obviously they are popular!

My first .22 was a Marlin with a tubular magazine.
I can't believe the ineptitude that gun put up with.

Yup, 10/22 is king.......It can be everything from a tack driving target rifle, to light assault weapon, and everything in between.
Its the F-150 of .22s, with a world of aftermarket accessories to make it do the job you want, or fantastic just as it is.

I just got a Savage with the thumb hole stock in a bolt. With a cheap Bushnell scope and CCI Velocitor ammo this thing groups 3 MOA. Best, CB

As many have already said, go with the Ruger 10/22. Parts are plentiful.
