What's nice is that is a box splitter an not a split axle. It's the split axle that was such a night mare for so many people. That Mitchell is it's own transmission which is why it's so indestructable and easier to use. Me thinks it's time to figure out what kind of dually dana my 89 axle is. Maybe if theres a 3.25 or so ratio I'll start to hunt down one of those mitchel boxes. I'll google it tonite and post what I can.
Oh yeah 77460, with that nitros I think you want to go fast... quickly!.

This computer age has some benefits.

In regular production until 95 for dodge, although you will find these boxes in heavy duty trucks 1, 3, and 5 tons. originally and still made for flat head Fords. There is no dealership network, everything is direct order. Modern computer controlled auto transmissions weren't compatible with splitter box and not enough standards were being made. Available in under-over, under-direct, and direct- over in 18, 28.6 and 40% ratios. 28.6% changes your 3.73 into a 2.66 ratio. Prices are reasonable as most people think the company is closed and parts aren't available, shhhhhhhh. That 3500d has a gvcw of 35,000lbs. That means you'll find them in cartage trucks, single axle 5 tons. A series 150, model 2000a means it's good for 20,000lbs and the a means it's 28.6% overdriven.
I hope this helps us in some way. Thanks to google this whole adventure took 1 hour 20 minutes and that includes making a pot of coffee and 4 slices of toast, plus I'm the cat's doorman. It used to take 6 weeks.

Thanks Privateer, eh. Mrs. Mitchell is still really sharp and as a family run business they found a niche. For me re-selling this unit has its challenges since it 95lbs and then the extra weight for the shifter, etc. It was previously mounted on a F350 hauling firewood.

Awkward and overkill for you is pretty much ideal for me. For you weight is a factor, for me it doesn't hurt as I'm 5900 lbs and those splitters help with c o gravity weight. My truck is being built to pull a 32' 5th wheel r.v trailer for 50,k over 3 years. I'm avoiding cities and I need something to get me through mountain ranges on occasion. A splitter would make the adventure safer, save wear n tear, and make it more economical. As long as I don't put much $ into it it's worth while.
Theres a pic of your floor on the first page of google 77460.
I'm just returning one of many good deeds and my acid reflux was acting up again (my fault). Had to keep busy anyway.
