Need to bleed the clutch in my 88 F250

My clutch in my 88 F250 needs to be bled. The pedal is almost completely down to the floor and just barely grabs.

The resivoir was low so I filled it up but now I need to bleed the clutch. I never did this before so can someone give me the instructions to get this done. That would be great.

Many thanks in advance.

To bleed the clutch, get a buddy to help. First, top off the resevoir, as you would with your brake system. Then, pump the clutch, making sure to get the pedal ALL the way to the floor. Pump it 5-6 times, then hold it to the floor. Have your friend loosen the bleeder on the slave cylinder. It is located either directly in front of or behind the hard-plastic supply line. It is recessed, and it is easy to miss. A small mirror makes things a lot easier. A small ( I forget which size) allen wrench fits in the bleeder screw to loosen it. After bleeding the air, tighten the bleeder screw, and repeat, making sure to: a) NEVER let up on the pedal until the bleeder is tight, and b) keep the resevoir topped off. I owned an 89 F150, and swapped the C-6 for a Np 435 4-speed. I aquired the parts out of a truck with a hydraulic clutch, so natuarally, I had to bleed mine as well. Even after pressure bleeding it, the clutch grabbed 1-2 inches from the floor. I have driven other trucks of the same era, they too have seemed to engage abnormally close to the floor. One last word of caution--be careful if you have a plastic slave cylinder, the bleeder threads are prone to strip quite easily!! I hope this helps.
