OUCH!!

I've only had my Ex one week to the day. I'm 6"1 and so far I have hit my head 5 times and the rear lift hatch!

Why doesn't this thing go up any higher? The shocks on the hatch are good, the door just doesn't go any higher.

Guess I need to some bigger tires to rise my truck an inch?

Is your Ex 4WD? If so, purchase a set of lift support shocks for the 2WD Excursion - they lift the hatch slightly higher.

If you swap the struts with ones for the 2 wheel drive model you will gain the extra headroom you need. For some reason Ford decided that the 4 wheel drive models were higher so needed shorter lift struts...go figure.

I would guess it has to do with garage height issues.

mine is a 2wd.

Wonder if they sell a longer strut that might work?

Something from another SUV?

In my Cabelas marine catalog it has Whitecap struts in sizes from 7 1/2" up to 20" the outside diameter is 15mm which seems to be the same, not sure what others cost but these are 16.99
