#20
ive been interested in doing this swap into my 96 short wide f150 engine and trans. they are remaking the ford falcon in australia with a supercharged 5.0. get a wrecked on of those and do the swap and it would be one bad*** truck. i work for ford and we havent had any problems with the new 5.0L yet.

I would love modern fuel efficiency with Classic Looks
I have had the idea of putting the Coyote 5.0L in my 79 Bronco ever since I watched them drop one of the crate versions into a roadster on Horsepower TV on the PowerBlock.
I never liked the 351M mine had in it and have no interest in a 460 that so many people drop in these. I love the look of the Bronco, but don't want a SUV that gets 10-12 MPH. I also want to be able to use this for Family camping/vacations around my beautiful state of Wyoming.
I drove the truck in High School, tore into it in College but never had the money or time to work on it. Now that things are settling down with work and kids and such, I am starting the Bronco fund.. When I have the money saved up I will start the build.
What I like about Ford making a Crate Engine Harnes and PCM is, you can add this to any project vehicle and not have to deal with computer control, it is all included. For about $8000 I can have the entire motor (Brand New) and it is so small designed for the Mustangs, that I will have pleanty of room in my Big engine compartment. Now the question I have, what Bell housing pattern does this use. I would like to also go with a more modern overdrive transmission. This does make me wonder if I would be better off to buy a wrecked 2011-present F-150 with this moter when the time comes, That way I would have transmission and Transfer case from the doner. The issues with the Bronco are the wheel base makes some swaps difficult due to the length of drivetrain. I may end up moving the motor forward in the bay so there is more room for the Transmission/T-Case...
Anyone have thoughts on the best route to go? I want the 5.0L but the body of the Bronco is all I really care about for Looks. I love technology and modern fuel efficient drive train is a MUST!! I even thought about building this thing one time with a all electric motor, but the tech isn't there yet...
Love the forums and can't wait till I have the cash to start this project again.
THanks,

Oh its there... its just expensive to the DIY'er. The railroad industry has been hauling stuff far heavier than any SUV all over this country for the last half-century using diesel-electric technology.

. I'm just trying to get my suspension finished up. I'm installing all Jaguar XJS suspension front & rear. Then I'm going to install the 2011 f150 coyote motor & 6r80 trans.
. Here I am doing research on it. What ecu' s and wiring harnesses did you use?
