99 f250SD 4X4 7.3 turbo 5 month on rebuild, runs great but after couple miles it acts like it shifts into neutral. i pull over shut it off and it goes again about a mile etc. to get reverse gotta rev and slams into gear
It could be a lot of things. It could be a Transmission Range Sensor, a seal inside the trans, a wiring problem, and probably a few other things I haven't thought of. A pro with a really high end scan tool could easily diagnose what's wrong.
I don't understand how a torque converter could do this.
If you have an E4OD in a '99 you will have problems. The E4OD doesn't have the speed sensors that a 4R100 has. The PCM needs these signals to control the transmission.
You do know that all '99 automatics were the 4R100, not the E4OD, right?
its what the shop that rebuilt it told me was in my truck. i questioned it but he assured me e4od. am in process of removing it myself and finding all the plates have been painted over. it does have the sensor on top so i believe it is 4r100 not what he said
