Im wanting to put another chip or programmer in my 2001 F250 7.3 Im more concerned about MPG then horsepower. Which would be best a chip or programmer? Also which brand and what not. Im new to diesel trucks so don't really know what all I need to get.

I think most of the 7.3 guys like DP Tuner chips, however, you have to remember that chips/tuners are performance enhancers first and foremost. That means that they are geared for HP first. If you happen to get MPG increases after having installed a chip/tuner (whether or not it is directly related to said installed chip/tuner) that's a bonus. It isn't a promise.
In my opinion don't get a chip/tuner for MPG as the main concern. You might see a benefit, you might not, you might even lose MPG. However, even if you gain MPG, depending on the supposed gain it might take quite a few yrs to pay off the purchase of the chip/tuner with the custom program(s) even with diesel getting on up in there in price.
Well my truck had a gold superchip but it went bad and now my truck is back stock and I can tell the MPG difference. So im gonna get something again.
Exactly how do you tell it? Have you calculated or just by how many trips to the pump or what?
Also, not all chips/tuners are the same, even if you get the exact same chip that you had on it previously doesn't mean that it will yield you the same results. Just like when people go with custom tunes for the 6.0 via SCT, not all of the tune writers out there yield the same results for the same tune.
Hi I am new to the forum and new to Performance Mods. I put the Diablo Predator In my otherwise calm 01 f250 crew and immediately after gave it its nickname, the angy stallion. I have owned this truck for 3 years and its never been this responsive. Shifts are smoother and way more torque at low rpms. I have only used half a tank so iI cant comment on mpg but looking at the guage it does not look any worse. This is pretty good considering my new found enjoyment of accelleration. It was easy to install and good value at under 300 bucks.
