We got 8 inches of snow in central PA Sunday thru Sunday night. By Monday evening roads were clear and it was below freezing so roads were pretty much dry. Had to go to the pharmacy and Wal-mart so I took the truck since I hadn't had it out much this winter due to the harsh winter.
Came out of the pharmacy and my taillights were lit, But my lights (Head or parking) were not on. Thought maybe my brake lights were stuck on, pumped the brakes but I could not get the lights off. The lights appeared to be brighter than the taillights but not as bright as the brakelights...
Went to Wal-mart, came home and disconnected the battery cable.
Today: connected the cable: tail lights did not come on, pushed the brake pedal, brake lights came on, released brakes and lights went off. Turned on lights, taillights came on, turned off lights, tail lights went off.
Is my problem: faulty light switch? faulty brakelight switch, crossed wires? Short? A electrical Gremlin?
Is your brake light switch the hydraulic type? If so, it might be on the way out.
Keep an eye on it, if you see it happening again try disconnecting the brake light switch and see if that makes them go out.
Yes, my thoughts also. Now might be a good time to buy the brake light switch Mid Fifty sells that comes on with less brake pressure. I always fear someone will rear end me.
