I would like to add my 2 cents worth to this whole 400M or not an "M" issue.
I think I can safely say that I speak to more people about a 400 Ford than anyone. (maybe)
I have heard people call them a 400, a 400M and even a 400 Cleveland.
Here's is what I tell them... nothing. I really don't care what you call this engine. I'm just here to help.
Within 30 seconds of most conversations, I can tell that we are talking about either a 400 Ford, 400 Chevy, 400 Pontiac, etc.
That's all I need to know.
General knowledge of the 335 series is that the 400 is built in a 351M block/architecture, and therefore often referred to as a "400M"..................................I guess I just shoulda never bothered sharing the find here, because it was obviously not appreciated
--- First of all, the 400 was introduced in 1971. The 351m was introduced in 1975. The 351m is in fact a destroked 400.
So how is it that the 400 "is built on a 351M block/architecture...."? The 400 came first, the M later, and the 400 was never called the M before the 351M.
It's fine to share, but:

Wow guys really? I didn't realize this was the junior high section! Who the hell cares if there's an m, p, l r, or any other freaking letter next to 400. Everyone on this forum knows what engine is being refered to. Spelling and terrible grammar are a much bigger problem... There has just been a half dozen posts on here with absolutely nothing to do with th original. How about everybody grow up and play nice.

Actually has is correct because of the modifier "just." If I had not used "just" then yes, "have" would be correct. This is not an english debate. Its about a guy being nice and offering a decent low mileage engine for someone who needs one. And to the previous poster, that wasn't my "two cents" and I wasn't being "helpful." This is not the first post that has gotten out of hand for absolutely no reason and it needs to stop. Now I will step down from my soap box...
sorry mate, I'm too far away to pick it up. strange how the smallest thing can start arguments. That M thing is the closest to a single letter four letter word on this forum, and I've been pinged for it several times when i first started posting. It's like the fawlty towers joke "Don't mention the War!!!". It's just easier to comply even if you don't care and can cut to what you really need to know.
