If your truck is stuck in 4wd it would just be "stuck in 4wd". that should not cause it to stay in neutral, do you have a manual shift t-case where the shift lever is stuck? or electrically operated t-case? maybe the t-case is in neutral...if it was when you put the trans lever in gear then attempt to put it into park the parking pawl will grind as the trans output shaft is still spinning.
well it sounds like your t-case is stuck in neutral, or broken. is the shift lever feeling loose? if so the alunimum shifter assembly bolted to the side of the trans may have broken, if thats the case get under the truck with a pry bar and manualy move the linkage from the left hand rear trans area to the t-case, see if that helps
I want to add this...if the t-case lever feel stuck dont force it, you can break the shift lever and their not cheap, if it is stuck get under the truck and pry off the linkage and manually shift the t-case at the case itself
thanks for the info ill try that i do know that the linkege that the shifter mounts on is worn i have tride to move it by hand but it wont budge ive ordered the linkegmount hope that will fix my problem
Hay bill64 tried what u suggested but it didnt work i also replaced the shift mount that u also suggested but that did not work its still doing the same thing grinding when i put it in park i tride to roll it back in nutreal and it did move but its still doing the same wont go into any gear
smily I dident suggest to you to replace the shiftmount, just check it if it was frozen or broken, if you are able to shift the t-case through all ranges and the truck still does not move, but the trans grinds when putting into park it sounds like a broken part inside the t-case
