I have a driveline noise sounds like an airplane or a tire wine the noise increases with speed and decreases when I slow down I am sure its not a tire noise because it doesnt change when I travel gravel roads It sounds like a bearing going out but I cant pinpoint which one. I have felt my hanger bearing rear diff transfercase after running highway speeds and none of them where hot. I checked my front bearings and they where all tight.any one have any ideas as to what to check next
i have no idea but i am having the same thing. i have replaced one wheel hub $500. all rear drive shaft u-joints and hanger bearing another $200 both diff and transfer case oils. and tires $1200 and still no change it is to the point where i only drive it when i have to other wise i take my wifes magnum
fluids were replaced last week and was gonna throw up on stand tomorrow. there was no excessive silver in the diff oil, tooth patterns looked ok on ring gear. will keep you posted tomorrow. any other suggertions are greatly appreciated.
My problem was the right front unit bearing I had checked everything Ujoint rear diff r d bearings and even checked the front unit bearings and still never found a problem it wasnt untill I had a semi change lanes will I was passing him and pin me between his trailer tires and the median curb after that the noise was 3 times louder my insurance replaced it with a USED unit bearing noise was gone
Yes it was you say you only replaced one bearing what I would do is jack the front end up and see if there is any difference betwen them or you could also pull your front wheel and the brake rotor carfuly pull the abs sensor out force some wheel bearing grease into the unit bearing thru the abs sensor hole put it all back together and take a drive if you have put enough grease in there then the noise should change some what if it does then you know its the bearing
