Like i said in my pm. Its all good man. I wasn't offended just joking back at you. I got some info. today from Carpenter Truck parts. I need to time the wipers and the motor at the stop position. Hope it works !!!!
I just received the kit from that was produced by Vintage. It only tells you how to replace the motor, nothing about adjustments. Getting ready to try and install it so will post the results. Harley
Without being too obvious, it looks to me like the arm under the cowl is too long. Is there an adjustment under there or is there another hole closer to the pivot? Is there an adjustment where the driving link attaches to the motor/transmission?
How does the mounting of the motor to the bracket work? Do those two bolts go through holes in the bracket or can the whole thing slide up and down on that bracket?
If it can slide on the bracket then moving the motor up or down would efffectivley change the link of the linkage between the motor and the pivot and thereby change the sweep radius of the wiper.....maybe....
I remember reading somewhere on my kit before you put the arms on ,you should turn the wiper switch on and then to the off position, and then when it is in the home position install the wiper blade.
I just checked out my new wipers on my 53.They are out of wack too. I did get them fixed right though.I removed the wiper arms, turned the switch on and let them run then cycle stopped them. Replaced the arms and tried again. When I turned them back on they went about three inches down onto the cowl. After many times of repositioning the arms, I loosened the nut holding the arms under the dash and moved the shaft to a three or nine o'clock position, however you look at it, and they worked fine.Trial and error til I got it right. don't know if yours will work like mine or not but it wouln't hurt to try it out.
If the cross linkage bar had its pivot points moved further out (slightly longer arm on one side by the looks) woudnt that increase the sweep? And cycling the switch should help too before fitting the blades. Just something to ponder perhaps John
