F250 Sttering Wheel Shake

I have a 2001 F250 SuperDuty Diesel 2WD. I recently have noticed a substantial shake in my steering wheel between 30 and 45 mph. I tried rotaing and balancing all tires and changed out the front shocks - still have same issue. I also had a little play in one bearing and tightened the bearing retaining nut up slightly to reduce this loosenes - Still no luck on steering wheel shake. Since the truck has 200K+ miles I am going to also get the front rotors trued, replace the front hub bearings and seals, and put on new rear shocks - I have not done these items on the truck since I bought it new in 2001. Note: I do have to commute down a real bumpy dirt road once and a while. Any one have any past experiance with this type of issue and/or possible things to check?

I'd say with that mileage all the items on the front end need to be changed including the ball joints and steering stabilizer.

Check or replace the steering damper.

Recently my 2003 developed a "steering wheel vibration" on rough roads. I noticed front tire pressures were down to 43-45 psi . I pumped them up to my usual 60 psi (Ford recommends 50 psi) and it is gone . Check your tire pressures first and good luck .

I would replace the damper with this one: Bilstein shocks and struts for cars and trucks - Shockwarehouse.com

Here's the direct Bilstein link: Bilstein, Innovation and High Quality Since 1873
