And the thread nannies should just not read if they don't like the topic. Jebus but that gets old and tiresome seeing the same whine from the same people whenever certain topics come up.
this is quite possibly the most ironic comment that's ever been posted here. ever.
No jab taken, just conversation and thinking out loud. If someone comes out with a display that I can PLUG in and look at data with no programming change and calling cards left behind I'm on it.
But since I'm sitting on Santa's lap how about a "Tow Boss" option Fiver Prep and Hitch, my productivity screen tweaks and Auto level airrbags standard and of course more powerful IEB.
Are not towing folks a huge segment of this product lines target market? Don't they offer work solutions and radio tool id?
Lets say 450/900 comes out in 2012 with the same hardware config as ours, I for one would be waiting at my dealer with my 500.00 to buy the download if they marketed it as an accessory? They already have a whole catalog full of warranted accessories already.
Sounds like a high profit low risk money stream to me.
I would be on board with a "tow boss" type option, for sure. I doubt it will happen though... I think the overwhelming majority of towing needs are adequately met by the existing options. And again, the aftermarket satisfies the rest... there is a plug-in tool that I'm considering getting myself. I wanted it for my old mustangs (since it has a GPS version) and now I have nav so I don't need the GPS... but the sensor readouts would still be very nice. I'll dig around and see if I can find that link.
Here's the tool I was talking about: DashDAQ from Drew Technologies I'm 99% sure it would work just fine with our trucks. It uses the OBDII standard, so it should be fine. Now, if I could find a place to mount it... I might just place an order
I think it would leave the others grasping for whiteboard markers... so they can do the same thing . Let me be very clear: I think it's a great idea. I just don't think Ford or any of the big 3 will do it. It does too much damage to the aftermarket for too little gain. Plus, it expands the spectrum of what they have to support, warranty, etc. They're not having any trouble selling trucks with the current options
I think the only way it could happen is by using SVT... Why *doesn't* SVT do a Super Duty?!? THAT would be exactly what some of us want. They could call it the Tow Boss or something equally as clever and release it under the SVT moniker. airbags, heavier springs, jake brake, etc... They could *also* do a Super Raptor using the same methods and some of the styling cues that they currently do for the Raptor. Put a factory 2" lift on it, some more agressive offroad tires... now I'm drooling
@srosa - at some point you'll have to admit that you were just expecting something different from what you got, and you fit into that group of people. You're new here, but you will come to learn that most of us don't take any joy in the argument. As much as you try to detract from my points, they are still valid. You're not simply sharing a story when you make proclamations about the quality of a system or the truthfulness of the company who sells it.
djjoshuad: Ugh, here we go again. As far as admissions go, I will admit to having an agenda but I stand by my experiences with Ford's brake assist. I kind of forced the debate to continue (you helped - thanks!) until others with a similar application (bigger truck, heavier trailer) had a chance to chime in. My objective was to present criticism of the Ford brake assist for a certain application and make the debate searchable for prospective buyers. This dialogue wasn't here when I did my pre-purchase research and it would have helped. That's all fixed now and I have nothing more to add on the subject
Your criticism of me as a newbie made me go back and reread the entire thread. I believe that you and I were the only ones guilty of arguing so this is a pot calling the kettle black situation for sure. I regret that and will be a better citizen in the future
OK Gentlemen back to square one. We can agree to disagree and offer different points of view. Keep the snide remarks to yourself. If you do not have anything to contribute to the thread, think about it.
