All, the bed of my 2000 F350 4x4 7.3 SRW quad cab short box is shot, and a full replacement by a shop that I frequent is around $4K. Is that in the ballpark? It needs to happen regardless, but I was just curious if someone has had the same thing done, and at what price...
If you Google "take off beds" or something to that effect, you should be able to find replacement beds pretty easily. A lot of the utility bed manufacturers and upfitter shops have them inventoried in their yards. I've seen new take-offs around SW Virginia go for anywhere from $1500 to $2500. You can get a bed and replace it yourself and save $$$ on labor if you've got the space to work on it and some help moving the old one off and the new one on.

Gents, thanks for the replies. The shop owner has been searching for 6.5 take offs, but he also said they are hard to find. I wanted to get the bed floor replaced, as that is the worst part, but it seems that the most cost effective option is getting the whole thing replaced. The truck is not my daily driver, so the wait is no issue. I just want it to last a long time (118K on the ticker, and I drive it no more than 10K a year)...
As far as price goes, I do not think I am getting jobbed, as the owner is a fellow hunter and has been in business in my area (I am not a native) for his whole life...
I guess I should have stuck with "short box" rather than "6.5", but the shop owner knows what is needed, he drives an 08 F450, and says he should have stayed with something that was a 7.3...
car-parts.com is a junk yard part search site. give that a try I have found many used parts from junk yards near me that I didn't even know where there.
car part only has one usable bed listed in Pennsylvania.

Anything up to 2010. As far as I know the only real difference in them was the tail light / reverse light socket placement. I think you need to change out the harnesses for the '08-'10 beds since the reverse lights were moved to the tops of the lights.
