I have a F150 2007 5.4L 4x4 and Im trying to buy individual upper balljoints, and all the shops sell the whole control arm, the internet sell both single and whole.
the question, is it better to buy the whole thing and why?
From what I've heard before the upper ball joints on 04-08 f150s at least are not serviceable and the entire upper arm needs to be replaced, but I could be wrong.
This should fall true on the 04-08 too...
Uppers come with the control arm, which make them easy to change, the lowers are to be pressed out of the arm.
I just replaced all my ball joints from RockAuto. Very reasonable prices and a good product. Upper joint comes with entire arm. Beware though that the replacement arms are bare cast and not painted. If you don't want them to rust, You better put a coat of black on them.
If you replace them with Moog upper control arms you can replace just the ball joint on the next replacement. They are replaceable on the new control arm, but not the OE arms.
Anyone replace their upper control arms with the Camburg Uniball ones? Seems like these would last a lot longer. Just curious if anyone has an opinion?
