just to check, if it is the EBPV couldn't it just be deleted and problem solved?
I agree with Peter. It is the EBPV actuator rod that is leaking.
Gunk foaming engine degreaser is your friend, EasyOff oven cleaner also works pretty well to get the caked on stuff off the engine.
and to answer Rocketman, Yes you can easily delete the EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve). You can buy a blank pedistal (no EBPV acuator), or you can remove your pedistal, remove the actuator, and tap the hole that the rod exits from to accept a standard NPT pipe plug. after you have taken care of the pedistal by deleting the actuator, you will have to secure the EBPvalve in the open position. you can either wire it open, or weld it open. There is also an exahust adapter avail to delete the whole EBPV assembly.
Duck Fan, If oil runs out the valley it does not run down the drivers side of the engine and bell housing. It comes out the bottom of the bell housing and or around the starter.
If you look at his pics, he has oil everywhere. He may have more than one leak. But his EBPV piston IS leaking. In order to fix it, he will have to replace the pedestal o-rings too. Kills 2 birds with one stone.
Maybe you guys can help me out. I have nothing in the valey and nothing around the turbo or pedistal like he does so im guessing the oil rail plugs? and suggestions???
Alright, im pretty mechanically inclined just new to this motor. How hardof a fix is this? And would it leak down to the driver side if its more towards the passenger side?
