I've got a 2002 F150 FX4 crew cab. I've been dealing with my battery draining for 3 months now and no one can fix it and the dealer is worthless. Here's what I've done so far. It's not my battery, it's new and i've tried others. It's not my alternator its new and tests fine. Now here's where I'm at. If I pull my 50A fuse my battery will not drain. Otherwise my battery will drain in 4-10 hours. I'm not a mechanic so please excuse my terminology. I've used an ohm/amp tester to wrap around wires to test how much theyre pulling on the battery. So far it seems like we've narrowed it down to the battery saver? Is there a battery saver or is that all together as the battery saver relay? I pulled the relay for the battery saver and bought a new one and installed it. Now my interior lights do not work with either the old or new relay, and my battery still drains. I can still turn my interior lights on manually one by one but not with the automatic switch or by opening doors. So is there a battery saver that could go bad? Any help would be appreciated.
My wife has the same truck. This mornin completely dead for no reason. I jumped it and fired up. But I noticed a tickin noise under the dash. Did yours dothat. I wish I had an answer for both of us.
No not that I can hear. The one shop that I had taken it to said that they had heard a clicking noise under the dash, but the other shops said that they did not hear it and I have never heard it. I'm at a loss. It's so frustrating to always have to pop the hood and pull that 50A breaker and then put it back in again just to start my truck.
Any chance you have a remote start? Mine does and now the heater stays on after the ignition is off. I think that's what drained the battery. The heater was on low so my wife couldn't hear it when she got home last night. That and the ac are the only accessories that run with the remote start. Now there is a beeping from under the dash. If comes to it I might have to unhook the remote start and see what happens. Too much crap to do these days and not enough time!
no I dont have a remote start. I dont seem to have any funny noise and nothing stays on when I shut the truck off that I can tell, but obviously there is a pull on the battery somewhere. Every time we think we've got it nailed down to an item based on our ohm/amp meter it turns out that that was not the issue.
