Over heating problem on 7.3
Hello everyone, I recently swapped engines on a 90 f-250 7.3, it runs on the cold side when i am not pulling but when i pull a trailer it over heats and sucks the top radiator hose shut. Any suggestions would help thanks.

Check the lower hose has a coil spring in it....... ie you should not be able to crush it. Did you replace the Tstat?....... what brand is in it? must be either Ford or IH only, aftermarket do not work.
Does the fan increase in RPM or lock up when it overheats...... if not it may be fubar.

That napa thermostat could be whats killing you. Use only ford or navistar thermostats. When you pull it out of the box and compare the two you will know what everyone here is talking about. The aftermarket i.e. napa oreilleys autozone etc. dont work in these motors. If it looked like any old plan thermostat its the wrong one. the aftermarket ones dont have an internal bypass, or maybe its the other way around my brain aint up to operating temp yet the baby told me to get up.
