turbo question

I have had my truck for a week now and figured today i would really see what it had taking off from a redlight. when i punched the gas the truck took off slow and after about 4 or 5 seconds then it turbo kicked in and the truck took off. while the turbo was going from 0psi to about 20psi there was a rough vibration but as soon as the turbo stoped gaining boost and held it at 20psi the vibration went away.

does this sound normal or does it sound like there may be a problem. this is my first diesel so im learning everyday.

thanks for the input.

The "lag" for a few seconds when taking off from wide open throttle is normal. However, no vibration is normal and also you say your turbo "stopped gaining boost at 20psi"? Not normal either. A good turbo should get you near 30ish psi. How many miles on the truck? Has the turbo ever been cleaned? Any mods? Are you able to read codes?

truck is a 06 f350 srw with 163000 miles on it. i dont know if it has been cleaned. no mods completly stock. have not tried to get any codes.(thought check engine light would have to be on to get any) or the message center would say something.

also i have gotting it to get up to 30psi the other day i was going up a pretty good hill and floored it and got 30ish.
