Turbo PSI???

Connected boost gauge and ran the truck. Floored peddal turbo PSI runs up to 16-18 psi. Cruising at most speeds 50 - 70 mph turbo is from 3 psi to 6 psi. Floor it and goes up to 16 - 18. Is this correct or do I have a bad gauge? Richard
A post about 20 down talks about trying to get over 27 psi???
