Exhaust question... something different.

Yeah it's another one of those questions and I've already searched through and haven't quite found my answer so I ask you guys. I've got a 92F150 with the 4.9 in it. My roommate has an 03 cobra with a full bassani exhaust system on it that he just wrecked. The car was totalled out and he said his insurance company is giving him the option to get anything off the car he wants. Well he's not interested in much so I told him I wanted the exhaust.

Basically for free I'll be getting a bassani x-pipe along with two Bassani SS mufflers. Since my exhaust manifold is a dual out, I'm thinking of fabbing up a custom built H or X pipe using those bassani cats and running a true dual system all the way back. Not sure if I'll use those mufflers, I've considered Dynomax Ultra Flo mufflers and SLP Loudmouth mufflers.

Do you think I'd be going to too much trouble? Do you think it'll sound much different than just a SI/DO muffler?

Just wanting some opinions.

The trouble is yours whether little or much...you get to determine that. And the only way to tell what it sounds like and/or whether it is different is just to do it.

That's the tough thing with exhaust. You really don't know what it'll sound like until you have it on the vehicle and fire it up.

If you're thinking about going the dual route, you could definitely use some parts off of the Cobra and save yourself some money. First question would be though, what diameter is the exhaust system on the Cobra? You will probably want around 2" - 2 1/4" with a dual system.

I have to double check but I'm pretty sure it's 3" pipe.

That's why I was curious. If it's 3", that'll be some serious overkill.

Here's my thoughts, since I'm just cutting the cats out of that x-pipe it shouldn't matter, and if I remember correctly my last 5.0 that had a bassani x-pipe on it the x-pipe was 2 1/4. If that's the case then I should be good to use those cats, if not it I'd just have to do a little more welding to make it fit. The only other problem would be having to buy smaller pipe for a custom x/h -pipe.
