I am working on finishing the cab of my 47 ford pu. There is a small metal bracket in the interior roof of the cab which I assumed is a mount for a cab dome light. I have not been able to establish that this is what the bracket is for. Does anyone have experience withh installing a dome light in these trucks. I bought a dome light from Joe's Antique Auto that was listed as working, but it looks like I would have to make a wood mount to slip the light into to make it work. It doesn't appear to have clearance for the head liner. Any info would be appreciated.

I think the Dome was an option. Mine had one which was screwed into the tab (as ground) and had a single wire running down through the front driver side window post (although it was no longer attached to anything).
Yes, the dome light was installed above the rear window. The tab in the middle of the roof is not for the dome light, it is for attaching the screw for holding up the headliner. Although the tab does make a very convenient spot for mounting a light.
Gary, did you decide on getting the rear slide window for your pickup?
Last time I heard from you was on the ash tray mounting. Also don't know whether I had mentioned this to you prior, but I do believe your color was a works truck in WY.
I saw one with a similar color if not the same when i was throu MT, WY, & NE.
Just thought I would mention it to you.
