Ok her we go, I am looking for the orginal one piece seat that goes in a 1979 F-150 4x4 Custom . I would like to get one with very little rips or tears, the one I have now the lower part is torn all up and has a cover over it right now. The seat needs to be blue in color. I have looked at all the junk yards around where I live and have come up empty handed for now. Thanks
Just curious, but have you thought about having yours re-stuffed and re-covered? Not sure how much it would be, but a friend of mine had his done local (by a friend of his who owns an upholestry shop) for $100. It looks awesome.
Thank you for your suggestion, I was trying to stay with the same seat beacuse I am restoring my truck back to it's orginal condition. I probably will have to go with re-stuffing it and re-upholstering it. It will never be right in my mind unless it is the orginal seat. I guess I am to stubborn.
Then you need to find a better upholstery shop. There's no reason you can't recover a seat to make it look like factory. A near perfect blue factory seat from a 33 year old truck is hard to find in the junkyard? Shocking. Don't forget, you're working on a TRUCK. Most people used these vehicles as trucks. The seats were the first thing to get worn out from getting in and out with various tools in people's pockets. Therefore, the seats were the first things used up in the junked trucks.
I'm not trying to be an @$$ here, but you need to be realistic. If your seat frame is in good shape, have it rebuilt. That's just my advice, take it how you want to. I just had my seats redone in my Nova. Aside form SLIGHTLY different material, the stitching is dead on what came from the factory and they pretty darn good, in my opinion.
Well, I found an orginal seat in great condition that matches perfectly. I guess that goes to show if your persistent and dont give up you just might find what your looking for. Oh, yes it is from a 1979 F-150 Blue 4x4....33 years old.
I still have the original seat in my truck, '78 F100, it is blue. The only major issue is on the driver side, the bottom part has a split. I currently have a cover over it just because, but it is a very comfortable seat. I would like to eventually put a split bench with drop down middle into it, because I like to have the option to prop my arm on a rest when I drive (personal preference - which it all boils down to anyway)..but that is later on down the road.
Post some pics when you get it...would like to see it...as well as it installed in the truck
I will post pic's of the whole tear down of the truck and putting it back together. It's all orginal equipment and have been stocking up on parts for a year and a half. Very fun and frustrating at times, thats the whole idea. WHEN YOUR DONE AND SEE WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED MAKES IT ALL WORTH WHILE.
Well just in case he did not is is still driving around like this, I found him one. lol Dang I drank stale beer and responded to a zombie thread.
Did not ck my born on dates.
