F250 Electrical issues

Hey everyone. I feel like I'm calling into a radio show, " first time caller, long time listener ". Just joking. Here is my issue.

#1) I just bought a 2002 F250, V10 with 107,000 miles on it from my dad. He bought it new. He had the factory remote start put on it. There was no issues with it from what I remember, although he has not used it in over a year. When I started it with the remote it started fine but the parking lights were going on and off, like it does to let you know that it got the signal. Well they flash and you can hear the relay, I'm guessing that is what it is, clicking under the steering wheel. It keeps going until I put the key in.

2#) The next thing is with my radio, sometimes when I go to turn it down, it actually turns it's self up.

3#) My blower motor for my heat will only work on high or low. He had a mechanic look at it and said the switch was good. Possible motor itself is bad.

4#) And now the last thing, my dome light will not come on when I open the door. When I start it, it come on. The battery is the original. Does this truck have some type of load manager? Or would a short cause these to act up?

Any help on this would be great.

1. Aftermarket remote start? Ugh. Hate em. Not even going there.

2. Stock radio? If so, probably not much for it than a new unit. If something is wrong internall (which is about all it could be) there's not much for fixing it. You could have the dealer send it out, but the cost would probably be equal to buying an aftermarket deck and replacing the stocker with something nicer.

3. Blower motor resistor. 99% chance a resistor or two is blown out.

4. Door ajar light-does it come on when the door is opened (Key in run?)

Thanks for getting back to me. I want to say the machinic checked all of the resistors and everything like that. He even took out the whole switch assembly and changed it with a new one to see if that works. He said that all was good, wire continuity and stuff. It's the overhead dome light that won't come on with the door open, it will come on when the truck is running.

I find it hard to believe it could be a motor if it works on two different speeds, but not on two others. I'd still look real hard at the resistor.

The light will come on when the door is opened when it's running, but not when the key is off or not in the ignition?

Thanks, I'll look at the resistors for the blower. How do you check them and where are they at? Sorry if it sounds like your talking to a 2 year old, I learn with my hands and I haven't had my hands in a truck alot. Thanks for your help...

For the dome light this is what is going on. If I unlock the door with the key-fob the dome light does not come on, even when I open the door. It will come on when the truck is running. Start it,light comes on, close door, open door, light comes on. It seems like there is some germlins living in my truck.

Thanks for your help and for being understanding with me.

Get this, this morning my dome light didn't work. Just got back to my truck to check it, unlocked the light comes on. Left it unlocked, waited for the light to go off, opened the unlocked door, the light comes on!*&@# I have no idea whats going on! Would a battery that was starting to go cause some of these problems?

Replace the battery and all of the problems, with the exception of the blower motor will go away.

I had the same problem, that's how I know. The battery is weak or has a dead cell.

A friend of mine had the same problem with his Expy. A new battery fixed his problem too.

I had to replace my blower motor too. But it was acting up for awhile, making a noise like it had pine needles stuck in it.

Just don't get one at Walmart or Auto Zone. O'Reilly and Napa have good ones. Costco Kirkland batteries are also highly rated. I bought a Motorcraft from my local dealer on sale for $109. That beat either one of those places for a battery of the same group code.

I got 4 years and 80k miles out of my original battery. Not bad for South Texas.

Thanks for the info. I plan on finding one today. Squeezed out 10 years and 107,000 miles on this one, that's all in Michigan. I'm curious what gremlins a new battery will kill?
Thanks

Ya, my door ajar light comes on every once and awhile to. Just got a new battery. I knew the other was going bad, so I had to get a new one regardless. Remote starter has no change as of yet. I can't remember if that's the way it's supposed to work, parking lights flashing on and off. Who knows? I want to see if the dome light will come on tomorrow morning. I guess we'll see what we'll see. Glad I'm not the only one with the same issues.
Thanks

Buy a can of WD40 and spray the heck out of the door switch. Poke the nozzle in the the door latch opening and spray all over the place. BOTH doors. Open and close doors a number of times.... problem solved! If not, wait 12 hours and try again. If it STILL doesn't work right, spray the switches again. If that doesn't fix it, you prob need new door switches.
