RedRush40 I couldn't agree more. I too think the 80-96 was the last of the good Ford TRUCKS. Today's trucks are glorified mommy wagons. In 2004 the F150 Lariat was nicer than the Navigator. That is what it is, a Navigator with a bed.
Oh, well. The new EcoBoost smokes the ***** out of every truck on the market today. Just look on YouTube.
I wish a new Bronco would be like the 66-77's. The old saying is sooo true when it comes to vehicles, "all good things must come to an end". But this doesn't mean we can't try and recreate with todays technology and yesterdays engineering. The 5.0 Mustang is a great example of this (which I want one). This why I refuse to give up my 1974 Highboy. Never again will there be a tough truck like this that I myself can build and rebuild to my liking in my own garage. Gone are the days of the mechanical automobile.
What happened to America?
Personally I would like to see the bronco based on the 78-79 because it was a good tough design with a solid build. Id like to see a couple of options like they had with the "Big Bronco" and the Bronco II granted im not a big fan of the II
as much as I love full-size 2 door SUV's (my DD is an '84 blazer but I love broncos also) on CL in my area blazers and broncos are selling pretty cheap while the pickups they're based on seem to be holding value. for anyone with kids in carseats 2 doors can be a pain and everyone wants 4 doors. maybe if they did 2 small suicide doors like the honda element or fj40 does it could work. even the figgen jeep wrangler can be had with 4 doors. that photoshop raptor bronco looks really sweet and it would be super cool if they made it, not that I could afford one.
Well as far as a 2011 or 2012 model it would be too late as we are already building 2012 units.
I love my 86 Bronco and as everyone else has stated Ford will not build it because they go for those people movers which are more or less an over sized station wagon. And for the mileage concerns for 2015 I can bet you will still only see about 20-22 mpg, I get 18.5 mpg with my 25 year old truck, the only way you will see that kind of economy (35 mpg) is to drive 20mph or a VW Diesel.
A new Bronco would be freakin sweet! but I agree, they would probably not make it as nice and tough as the origional Broncos. The way things are now in the auto world I bet it would just be a glorified Raptor, not a true Bronc like we all know and love.
I would love to see options similar to the dodge powerwagon....lockers, gearing, winch, skid plates etc all from factory.
Actually they just install all that stuff on an existing pickup. It's not purpose built like the raptor is. The only thing we aren't getting is the winch. I have one on my truck and the only time I used it was to see if it would pick my truck straight up lol.
