There's a reason that there is a warning on the visor not to operate 4wd on dry pavement or at speeds above 60mph.
The transfer case can be snatchy if the chain is worn and with the hubs locked you'll always have crabbing while turning.
I think I'd really need to drive it to give you a more accurate diagnosis.
