But KOA's have gotten quite expensive in recent years too....almost cheaper to stay in a motel! I have joined Campclub USA, ( Camp Club USA Discount Camping Club - 50% Off Campground Rates ). It offers 50% off campgrounds if you join. Not at all expensive to join either. Directory has a LOT of choices all over USA.

Never been to KOA but have heard good things about it. OA is a private camp site. There are only yearly dues other then that you can camp for free at any of their 5 sites. You can use all there amenities all year long and it is for a lifetime and you can transfer it to someone else. They keep up there parks really well and keep adding new things each year. I'm getting it because it's cheap for me, and my parents are there. I do plan on camping at other places through.

For us KOA's are the destination. We love the proximity of a few different ones and it seems there is always something going on at one. The ones around here have festive events for all the major camping holidays including halloweekends. People go crazy transforming a trialer into a haunted house. It really is a lot of fun. I have been to a few other campgrounds and really enjoyed them as well. I dont think 35-40 bucks a night is too bad for all that most of the koas offer. There is a rv resort in west michigan called Duck Creek we stayed at an had a blast very clean and new. Wish it had a few more trees but still a lot of fun.

Well, I just reserved my first trip....a week in St Augustine at Bryn Mawr RV resort APR 4-8. We've been going there for years, but never in our own gear.

I don't have much time to get this thing ready. We take delivery this week and I plan on taking a quick 1 hr run up the interstate this weekend to see how everything works. My brake controller will be here tomorrow and my SCT X3 should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday. It feels like Christmas Eve!!!

Well I had to go to a different General RV to get my camper. The Brighton store sold the one that was on hold for me. Plus when I called to give them a deposit, they would not call me back. All the financing is already done and we knew what wanted and knew the price. We were the easiest sale they would get. But they screwed that up. So we called the Mt. Clemens store and they took care of everything even after hours. The trailer still in not in stock but they have 9 coming April 1st. I don't understand some sales people, all they had to do is fill out the paper work and collect the commission check.

Plus now even better for us the price went down $1000, now they have to give it to us for the lower price. I guess everything happens for a reason. I live in MI so it's not like I need it now anyways.

Good for you, a little aggravation and save a grand...well worth it.

In defense of the first dealer, there's people who are interested in buying , some are just looking and make it clear , then there's all sorts of people in the middle. Some even think it's fun to spend an hour or so just wasting a salesmans time on something they have no real intention of buying.

It could have been a mixup but probably since you didn't put a small deposit down with the hold before someone else came in and wanted it, they just moved on.

FWIW, the White Lake dealer told me to put $100 to hold it until I made up my mind. If I decided not to take it, the money would be refunded.

Glad it all worked out in the end.

Good for you man. You are going to have a blast. I bought my new 5th wheel from a and s rv in auburn hills. At the rv show they had the model on display I wanted. I went over to the general guys and asked if they had one. I was ready to buy from them due to a good first time around. I was ready to move on it that day to get the "show" pricing. The salesman said he would call me with the number that afternoon. Guess what no call so I bought from a and s. He calls me two days later and said "sorry I got busy, you want to work out a deal for that montana now?" I said TOO LATE! After that he was actually pretty cool and wished me luck with the new 5er and if I needed anything they would love to help out. The conversation ended well but I cant believe they missed on a chance to sell a unit.
On a side note I traded in my f250 for a 350. Went to the dealer that had my truck in stock and tried to work a deal. I told him what I wanted for my old truck he came back 3k under it. I told him im gonna go somewhere else and try unless he wants to make a deal. So I did now the dealer 12 miles away is going to pick up that same truck off their lot to deliver it to me today. First salesmen called me yesterday. "so you want to try to make a deal on that 2011?" I said "look out your window thats the other dealership driving your truck to their lot so I can pick it up tomorrow!" He gave me the old oh man so you were just using me to see the truck you were not going to buy from me anyway. I told him you blew it. All you had to do was work with me. Your problem not mine. Money talks.
Ok so that was a bit of a rant sorry. I just dont understand sales people. Be honest and up front. I always am. Im willing to pay x plan minus incentives just take care of me on the trade. I know there is a lot of wiggle room. But you cant tell me one dealer would only give 35k and tell me thats the best they can do and they are willing to take a loss to sell a new truck when the dealer down the road says 38k. Go figure (ok more ranting sorry)
Ill stop now

At the camper show we offered to put down $1000, they said not to worry about it and they will hold it for us. Well they didn't. That's ok, it's all going to workout in the end. No use getting upset over something you can't control.
