2011 accelerator problem

When I press slighty on the accelerator just to get the truck moving and than let off the engine stays at the higher RPM typically just over a 1000. This only happens in drive not reverse and everytime I just slighty step on the accelerator. Any thoughts anyone? The truck only has 1K miles on it.

So no one has an ideal about this issue? Has anyone even heard of this before?

I had a similar issue with my 09 F150. dealer said it is normal. I took it to my mechanic, basically he said the same . I traded a 96 F250 with a 460 and 4:10's that i had driven for 267,000 miles. basically, it was different from what i was used to.I would have the dealer check it out, and enjoy your new ride.

My 2010 has done that. Kinda of a freaky feeling the first time you feel it. I think it's a combination of the really low first gear shifting into 2nd, and the PCM keeping the rpms up for smog reduction.

If this is a smog issue why doesn't the idle speed increase when the truck is in reverse?

I cannot make my truck do this anymore,it now has 29,000 miles.
when i picked it up at the dealer i noticed it right away, their lot is only 1/2 mile to the highway, but 3 sets of lights, and lots of stop and go. the dealer looked at it the next day.
I asked my mechanic about it when he did the first oil change, that was around 3500 miles.
I think it had stopped by the 2nd oil change. maybe it just needs some miles and time.

they said it was a normal condition, and if i wanted ,they would
1. reflash the computer
2.let me drive another to compare
They recommended giving it some time and miles, that is what i did,
and it stopped some time after the 1st oil change.

Took the truck to the dealer today and they said the computer was in tow/haul mode, why would tow/haul mode cause my the engine to stick at higher rpm than normal when in drive?

If I'm going down a hill, and turn on Tow/Haul mode, the engine will rev up to 3k+ compared to "normal".

I believe the truck's computer goes through a learning process when the vehicle is new and this maybe what your experiencing. I know my owners manual even states that if the battery is disconnected this process has to run again.

Tow/Haul mode is supposed to do that. The purpose is to keep the RPMs in the higher torque band for towing.

I use it all the time and it works great.

I sometimes use it when I want to drive "friskey". The higher RPMs give it more pep.

Totally normal for Tow/haul.
