Leak - Any ideas

I noticed about a 2 inch puddle of fluid under my truck today. It was directly under the drivers side edge of the radiator. The fluid has the consistantancy of oil (a little thinner) and is almost clear. No distinctive smell.

Looking up under the truck there is no noticable leak or indications where fluid has been dripping on other components.

Other than radiator fluid I am not sure of any other fluids that would be this far forward in the truck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Check fuel cooler level? The cooler for fuel is there.

Fluid levels in your degas and fuel cooler? Notice any creeping? Look those radiator seams over closly.

Check your radiator hoses as well.

I guess I should gave done the taste test on it. I just thought that since it was not green it could not be rad fluid.

I guess if it was rad fluid then i should be concerned with the possibility of a radiator/thermostat issue many others have reported. My is an 08 and would you know about 1k before the 36k warranty is up

Thanks for all the advice

The stock ford coolant is a pale goldish colour so probably looks clear on the ground. Brake fluid would be the only clear oily fluid I can think of though ?

Check your upper radiator hose. That's what mine did and it was the upper radiator hose leaking at the coupler.

The Ford owner's manual diesel supplement notes many times that the proper coolant is the Ford Gold Coolant", that it's gold colored and that the green coolant should not be used.

This isn't a personal comment, I just read post after post indicating that people didn't read the manuals that came with their $50,000+ truck. I just don't understand how people can spend this much money on a complex machine and not fully read all of the instructions that come with it.

wp6529, you got a point. I have skimmed through a couple times looking for a couple things but did not even think to look this time.

This is my 7th vehicle and all previous had the green coolant so I did not even think it would be a different color

It appears there is a second smaller radiator where the leak is coming from. It's going
to the shop Saturday.

if it is the smaller one on the drivers side then it sounds like the fuel cooler radiator.

Update: Took my truck to the dealer today and it was the radiator. They replaced it. Fortunately I am still under 3/36k warranty.

So now I have had 3 injectors, a DPF and the radiator replaced.
